Giddy up!

December 15th, 2011

Lacey is a cowgirl at heart! She looks perfect too-a ton of cute belts, boots…she’s got some style folks & gorgeous ‘baby blues!’ She brought a few outfits-which is my absolute fave! I love to play with different looks, textures, colors/contrasts..so fun. She wanted to have a relaxed, outdoor, country backdrop & her momma knew of the perfect place! We were in Fort Worth (which is where I grew up)-perfect place for everything country! She was such a good sport to venture into tall grass, sit on top of an itchy hay bale, and brave other scary locations where a snake was sure to hide. We had so much fun. Here are a few of my faves:

A beautiful ‘Rose!’ family portraits by Mindy Ravines Photography

December 13th, 2011

‘Rose’…her name is so perfect for her adorable face. Her skin tone with her gorgeous eyes-such a perfect blend of sweetness. I couldn’t get enough of her facial expressions! At one time she reminded me of Shirley Temple…then almost stomping away ‘Fancy Nancy’ came to mind. Rose has so much personality packed into such a tiny little package. I could eat her up!! Meeting wonderful clients like the ones you are about to see warms my heart & makes me so happy to be a Photographer–I’m the luckiest girl alive!

Family Portraits Holiday Style! by Mindy Ravines Photography

December 3rd, 2011

Anne contacted me from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She and her extended family were meeting in Burnet, Texas for Thanksgiving & wanted to surprise her family with a family portrait session. She was sneaky & clever! She brought CRAZY Christmas sweaters with her….purchased from Goodwill…you see where this is heading! Every member of the family had a sweater to sport in the group shots. I was beside myself! You’ll see why….

Bridal portraits & Mr. Ed?! Nope it’s Todd!!

December 1st, 2011

As of Saturday November 26th Holly is married!!! Finally I get to blog about her bridal portrait session–yay!

I met Holly at the Austin Bridal Extravaganza last January. She & Michael came by to discuss my photography services & style of photography. I *hoped* they would contact me again & book me for their wedding….they did. I was thrilled!! They are a magical couple. They met in high school & have a wonderful music background (I can’t say more because I can’t ruin my wedding blog for them).  Their engagement portraits worked out perfectly for the Austin ‘Play me I’m yours’ tour. Check out my engagement portraits to see how great those turned out-the pianos were so great!

Holly grew up with horses & wanted her bridal portrait session to include a horse. I was so excited & worried….where will I find a horse? The magic of Facebook answered this question for me! Will her dress get dirty or worse….damaged? Not a chance-I was overly cautious with sheets/blankets,  Holly’s sister was an amazing assistant, & Todd’s owner was such great help!! What if the horse gets spooked by the gorgeously long train of her wedding dress? Nope….Todd was such a gentleman! I won’t use the name of the amazing owner of Todd, but I am forever indebted to her for working with us! How gorgeous is Todd? He is so big & gentle-a true ‘gentle giant!’ As promised I brought treats (apples & oranges) for Todd & his brother to share. Todd was thrilled & I was amazed how quickly he devoured one apple (he had extras to enjoy each day after-he deserved each one!).  A sight to see! I plan on visiting Todd again with more treats because he now holds a special place in my heart-such an amazing horse!! Thanks again to all who assisted! XOXO

Meet Fern!

November 22nd, 2011

Stalker…I felt like a stalker as I said, “You have an ADORABLE puppy! Could I photograph her? (as I thrust my business card in the man’s hand)” I’ve never been so bold as to approach someone on the street, but hey I was in my neighborhood. I approached a ‘neighbor’ as I was on my way home so technically I wasn’t stalking anyone. Fern is her name…which I love & automatically think of Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. Which only makes me love Fern more! The owners of the most adorable puppy were so wonderful to meet with me & allow me to play/photograph their sweet baby girl. Thank you!

Family portraits in Austin, TX with Mindy Ravines Photography

November 17th, 2011

Everyone knows that Facebook is an amazing way to reconnect with friends & family. It also helps spread the message that ‘hey, since we last spoke I’ve let the creative side of myself run free with the art of photography.’

Rebecca is both a friend & a sorority sister–we recently reconnected via FB. Rebecca knows her way around photographers. She has had her sweet boys professionally photographed every year. She’s a canvas kind-a-girl (me too-love them!).  AND she knows her way around style…she came prepared with 3 outfits, umbrellas, rain boots (because Austin, TX finally received some much needed rain!) & a great suggestion for our shoot location. I love a client who knows what she wants! Cute boys, great outfits & a fun location=the perfect scenario for any photographer. Thanks Rebecca for introducing me to your boys, catching up on life, & playing with me in my world of photography.

Pet portraits by Mindy Ravines Photography

November 10th, 2011

All to often we have to say good bye to one of our four legged friends. As a way to ‘freeze a perfect moment in time’ I met this wonderful family to photograph Breeze.

While photographing Breeze I learned that THIS family has a lot of pets….a dog or 2 or 3 & miniature horses. Their personalities lightened the mood & I got some funny shots. Enjoy!

Family Portraits including 4 legged friends

October 27th, 2011

I’ve been fortunate enough to maintain contact with so many clients over the years. Watched their children grow into amazing young adults, get married, & have families of their own. I’ve also met a ton of 4 legged friends along the way. What a rewarding journey!

It’s heart breaking to see how many pets I’ve photographed & said good bye to…one day I will dedicate a blog to all of them (too sad to do today).

Here’s a wonderful family that I’ve enjoyed watching grow throughout the years…and 2 of their 4 legged friends: Socrates & Kramer. Socrates is showing his age now…I wish they could stay young forever! How cute are these white fluff balls? I LOVE THEM!!!!!

They remind me of my first puppy….although she was black. She helped me through some rough childhood moves. She lived with me here in Austin for a short while. I had to be brave & put her to sleep just before her 18th birthday. Dido’s ‘Thank you’ was on the radio and I cried, held her, & drove with the sun roof open blowing our hair….goodbye old girl. Thank you, you gave me 17 years of  the ‘best days.’

Photographing twins

October 26th, 2011

I always wanted twins…of my own & twins to photograph. After having a child of my own & learning how hard adjusting to one can be I can’t imagine my life with twins. Can you imagine the shock & excitement of learning you are pregnant with twins?!  I know how shocked I was to learn I was having a girl. I thought for sure the doctor was wrong. Why would the sweet Lord give me a girl? I am not a girl-y girl so I assumed I would have 2 boys. WRONG!

But Michele’s news was ‘twins’…and twin girls! I was thrilled when she contacted me for a family portrait session. The girls were so much fun! Hearing them call for each other…adorable. Seeing Michele in action was amazing. She carried them both at *one* time (they are 18mths old). Moms do what moms need to do to make a happy family. I know this…but she made it look effortless. Kudos Michele!!

Executive Portraits in Austin, TX

October 17th, 2011

There’s been a huge trend in Executive Portraits combined with a personal flare. Several individuals have contacted me for their business needs, but then also added ‘could we take a few casual shots for my social networking sites as well?’ Of course we can!!! How many of you are guilty of taking a snapshot of yourself with your iphone & uploaded it as your profile pic? I’ve seen a million & one on my Facebook page. Which-by the way-is totally fine! Personally I prefer a more professional look. The clarity of the photo & the ‘at ease’ look of the subject is perfection!
