Birthday Portraits by Mindy Ravines Photography

Guess what? Anisa is 9 yrs old! I remember when she was little bitty! She and my daughter, Lola, danced together at Joyce Willett School of Dance. Seems like yesterday, but actually it was like 4 years ago! Anisa is growing up so fast & is turning into a beautiful young lady! This year we decided to head down to UT for some shots & end up with a special treat at Hey Cupcake! Here are some of my favorites from our latest shoot:

Birthday portraits: Noah is 7!!! by Mindy Ravines Photography

Noah is a very special boy in my book. He reminds me a ton of my little man, Max. He’s adorable & super smart! His sweet faces crack me up & warm my heart. For his 7 yr old portraits his mother & I talked about what we wanted to incorporate into the shoot…his interests: he loves wearing ties (plural, not just one tie), loves Star Wars/Longhorns, he is an excellent reader/student…we also included a treat “Amy’s Ice Cream.” A HUGE Austin favorite. We hit a few of my favorite North Austin places to shoot….

Megan is 4!!! Birthday portraits by Mindy Ravines Photography

As a photographer I am constantly looking for interesting places to photograph my clients. I get bored using some locations in Austin (that will remain nameless) that other photographers flock to…the fun thing is you can find amazing spaces everywhere! This client knows me well & trusts my opinion on locations. Now…not all locations are perfect *lighting wise* when the subject (4 year old who goes to bed at 7:30pm) is at her best….therefore we make compromises to get the shot. We all had so much fun during this shoot.

How great will it be when Megan is older & she looks back on all of the years of photos….the outfits..the hairdos…everything that went into making this day so much fun & so memorable? I hope every child feels as special as Megan did! I will make every effort to ensure my kiddos feel so loved, so valued.

Birthday potraits! by Mindy Ravines Photography

I’ve joked with her mom saying, “I will be photographing Macey’s wedding.” I’m not kidding….I have photographed Macey for 4 years now & am totally attached. She’s adorable & growing into such a fun spirited little lady. Macey has a sister (who is now 1 yrs old & this is my 2nd time photographing her) who is ‘Miss Independent!’ I love to see a toddler walking around with those chubby thighs exploring all that’s around them. It’s such a great reminder of life & how new & exciting it can be every day! Here are some of my faves from our shoot.

Birthday portraits!

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Personally I do birthday portraits for my children every year. They know it’s coming & love me even though I make them play model every year…they’ll thank me later.  I delivered them so I feel I can ask this of them right? I don’t have the ‘I was in labor with you for 16 hours!’ story…both were abnormally fast deliveries (my husband is so thankful for that!).  In fact (with our first born) when I gave my husband THE LOOK along with the knife hand across the throat he quickly got the message ‘me being on my cell phone might be an issue while I’m supposed to be massaging my ever-so-beautiful-wife’s back!’ I digress…if you can’t afford to have your child’s birthday portraits made by a professional photographer then by all means DIY (do-it-ya self!). You can not afford to let these precious changes go undocumented. I already miss Max’s soooooo spaced out baby teeth…they were such cute little chickletes! Anywho, here are sweet Megan’s ‘I’m 3!!!’ photos….she is so stinkin’ cute if my husband & I wouldn’t be outnumbered….I’d have another! I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again…..I prefer man-to-man defense…moving to a zone defense is not in my plan…hugs & kisses!
